Neuro-Linguistic Programing
What is NLP?
NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. ‘Neuro’ refers to the neurons in your brain and how you process information, ’Linguistic’ refers to the use of language, (how you talk to others and your self), Programming refers to how that neural language functions in your brain. Think of it like programmes running in the background of your subconscious mind. Using NLP is about learning the language of your own mind and then knowing how to make it work for you, to create personal change in your life.
NLP is an approach to personal development created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder, who identified a connection between neurological processes, language and behavioural patterns learned through experience (programming), and that these can be changed to achieve specific goals in life. I use NLP to help my clients in re-learning better ways of thinking, feeling and behaving as part of my 6-session process, once we have let go of our emotional baggage. These innovative tools can help you to re-wire your neurology faster.
Bandler and Grinder believed that ‘’If one person can do something, so can other’’, they wanted to find out how to re-learn or re-wire our brains more quickly than traditional therapy. By observing the most successful therapists of their time, such as Milton Erickson (Hypnotherapy), Fritz Perl’s (Gestalt Therapy) and Virginia Satir (Child Therapy), they created NLP as a set of tools for learning.
With NLP you can “model” the skills of exceptional people in order to teach your brain and body to acquire these skills rapidly. When your ‘’neurons fire together, they wire together’’. NLP helps you form new neural pathways to establish better habit patterns that also feel better for you. It can treat problems such as phobias, depression, psychosomatic illnesses, even allergies and learning disorders.. More recently, techniques such as MER (Mental and Emotional Release® Therapy) mean that you can clear emotions such as Sadness, Anger, Fear, Guilt and Hurt all in as little as an hour.
In NLP, we say the Conscious mind is the goal setter, and the Subconscious mind is the goal getter. Your subconscious mind has been programmed and it’s out to get for you whatever you want in life. However, there are some programmes, habits, old learnings that are running based on your past experience that may be holding you back in life.
Would you like to learn how to re-wire your own neurology and install new habit patterns that work for you instead? Realize that your subconscious mind only does what’s already programmed because it thinks that’s what you want. Neuro-Linguistic Programming is like a user’s manual for your brain. In a nutshell, it’s a set of tools and techniques that can help you achieve your goals and get results more rapidly
